So it's your first wig and you have no idea what you're doing or you've been wearing wigs for years but never knew all the tricks. Well here's some helpful info and tips.
What is a lace front wig?
A lace front wig is a wig that has hair knotted into lace around the hairline for a natural look. The lace can be just at the parting, or 4 by 4 inches for versatile partings.
What is a full lace wig?
A full lace wig is a wig that is only constructed on lace. Individual hair strands are knotted into each hole in the lace. This type of wig tends to be more costly due to the labor and is only offered in human hair.
What is a lace frontal?
A lace frontal is like a lace front only the lace is placed from ear to ear. Hair can be pulled into a ponytail or behind the ear and still maintain a natural look. It is usually 13 by 4 inches.
How can I secure the lace?
Lace front wigs can be secured with a varietyof glues and tape. The type of glue depends on how long you plan on wearing the wig. Moco gorilla snot, Got2B freezespray, and spirit gum.
What is a circle wig?
A circle wig has the wefts sewn in a swirl. Like a cinnamon roll. These wigs usually have bangs instead of partings because there's no lace. They cannot be pulled back because the wefts will be visible.
How can I conceal the lace?
If your wig is human, you can lighten the knots from the inside of the cap.
You can also blend the lace to match your scalp by applying makeup that matches your skin color or is slightly lighter than your skin. I recommend using a fine angled makeup brush to create a smooth thin parting.
What is synthetic hair?
Synthetic hair is fake hair usually consisting of acrylic fibers. It's usually shinier than natural hair so to give a more a natural look, you can lightly dust your synthetic wig in cornstarch o reduce shine.
How can I store my wigs?
There is a variety of ways to store a wig.
How do I revive old wigs?
A good wash and maybe a hot tool. For my wavy synthetic wig, I brush it out then twist it in sections the size of the wave. When I'm ready to wear it, I undo the twists, the waves look like they did when i first got it.
